Courbes d’étoiles III - "L'Etoile Sombre De Kobe"
for solo piano
from the cycle Courbes d'Etoiles I - VI ( a work in progress)
Courbes d’étoiles III - "L'Etoile Sombre De Kobe" ("The Dark Star Of Kobe"), was written for my wife, the japanese pianist Nao Momitani (originally from Kobe, Japan), echoing the death of her mother. A place where the curves tell us about the last atoms of a disappearing star, in order to keep some hints of a lost memory. A very expressive work, simple but complex, like a Japanese Zen garden with its scattered stones referring to a single star in our inner soul.
Courbes d’étoile III was premiered by Nao Momitani in a monographic concert at the Contemporary Art Museum of Liege (2001)
