Mini-Laps plays in the box is a recording of three musicians from the ‘Laps ensemble’ performing together on the intimate stage of the Maison des Musiques.
Through works by Stefan Hejdrowski, Paul Pankert and Geoffrey François, they offer a playful programme combining the organic and the mechanical, the superficial and the profound, the sacred and the profane. Music that magnifies polarities and brings us back to the presence of the body in the midst of our technological urbanity. A box that opens from the inside!
With: Rudy Mathey (clarinets), Ian-Elfinn Rosiu (cello), Geoffrey François (laptop). LAPS (Laptop & Acoustic Production System) is a collective of musicians with a variable geometry combining acoustic instruments and laptops. The initial idea is manifested in a desire for gestural and expressive interactions, even ‘chamber music’ between “acoustic” musicians and ‘electronic’ performers. This can then be combined with multiple aesthetic hybridisations, where classical music dares to assert its solidarity with popular music, and where the history of ideas is combined with the enjoyment of sensations. The Laps Ensemble is financially supported by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Culture Administration, Music Department.
