Pierre Liebaert collected 90 postcards of Mons dating back more than a century. He then took identical photographs of the same places, revealing the ineluctable passage of time separating the two images. Through the magic of subtle video editing, the views of the past are imperceptibly and vertiginously transformed before our eyes into their appearance today. In the spirit of Sound Meditation, the Musiques Nouvelles musicians create a melting, soaring, moving soundtrack for the occasion, adding a synesthetic dimension to this breathtaking journey back in time.

The associations Sauvegarde & Avenir de Mons and Les Montois Cayaux are behind the photographic revival project led by photographer Pierre Liebaert between 2018 and 2022 and joined by Swiss author Karelle Ménine in 2020.
