Founded in 1962 by Henri Pousseur and Pierre Bartholomée, Musiques Nouvelles celebrates this year its 50 years of existence.
The feast began with a concert in the frame of the ISCM WORLD MUSIC DAYS FESTIVAL, in Mons on October 29th. After the 6th December concert with the premiere of 20 50-seconds miniatures, Musiques Nouvelles continues in Flagey (Brussels) with the celebration of its 5 conductors on 10 March.
In the frame of this birthday, the Cypres records label issues a special six CD box with a portrait of 25 major composers of the "Wallonia-Brussels Federation".
A blog has been launched by Cyprès and Musiques Nouvelles, which offers regularly new pages with interviews of composers.
