After learning various instruments, Gilles Doneux turns to composition and integrate in 2005 the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Belgium). In 2010 he obtained a master's degree in composition in the class of Claude Ledoux, and in 2011 a master's degree in classical writings in the class of Jean-Pierre Deleuze.
There, he also studied multimedia composition (music for theater, movies, ...) with Denis Pousseur and Jean-Luc Fafchamps. He's now Ph.D candidate at Paris8 University.
In his music, Gilles Doneux tries to combine his interest in sound introspection with a reflection on the social and cultural phenomena.
He received commissions from Musiques Nouvelles, Nikel ensemble, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Maitrise de la Loire, and festivals such as Musicalta (France) and ArsMusica(Belgium).
In 2010, he was awarded the Henry Pousseur price from the "Centre Henri Pousseur".
