This piece for solo piano was commissioned by the Royal Academy of Arts of Belgium and the Flemish Association for Modern Music. It was written for the concert marking the 90th anniversary of the birth of Mr. André Laporte. The concert organizer requested that the notes corresponding to the name of André Laporte be selected to compose a piece. I chose three notes (A)n(d)r(E) L(A) port(E), two of which are repeated. A presentation and reflection on the themes of the three notes A, D, and E were developed, followed by five variations to complete the piece.
This piece is supported by the Ministry of the French Community. The premiere is on November 17, 2021, at the concert hall of the Royal Academy of Arts of Belgium in Brussels. Performed by pianist Jan Miheils.
