This composition was also created under the impression of the flood disaster in July 2021 in our region. Several aspects of this theme come into play in the piece. On the one hand, the lightness with which water can appear – as a source of life. On the other hand, the threat that water can represent, and which will increasingly manifest itself in the course of climate change.

As in many of my compositions, the influence of Baroque music is unmistakable. Martin Luther, in the Bach chorale “Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir” woven into the work, reminds us of the powerlessness of humankind and calls for humility.
