ELECTRIC / SOUND MIGRATIONS
by LAPS & LENsemble Vilnius

Belgium–Lithuania: two ensembles bring together acoustic instruments and electronics for a 100% original concert featuring three world premieres and a fever spreading throughout every space of Le Senghor.

The Belgian LAPS Ensemble brings together acoustic instruments and laptops: the virtuoso fingers of instrumentalists meet the electronic impulses of computers used as musical instruments.

The Lithuanian LENsemble Vilnius is a passionate advocate of both composed and improvised music, and will be represented here by six acoustic musicians.

Electric Fever / Sound Migrations is the title of this encounter between the 18 artists of the two ensembles. In a single concert (100% original!), audiences will hear three ambitious world premieres by Estonian composer Helena Tulve, Lithuanian composer Vykintas Baltakas and Belgian composer Claude Ledoux.

A concert in which the seemingly inexhaustible energies of urban technology encounter the memory of natural ecosystems. We will hear both the “electric fever” of Vykintas Baltakas, inspired by gaming, and fragments of vast sonic ecosystems, scattered by Claude Ledoux with animal cries and references to the traditional musics of the peoples of the Far North.

An international encounter enriched by a highly collective opening section and numerous interventions, improvised or otherwise, throughout the different spaces of Le Senghor.

This “main concert” will be preceded by a Mini-LAPS (one or two instruments + laptop) and will continue with a sonic happening improvised by members of both ensembles.
