Passacaglia

The Passacaglia for bass clarinet and live electronics strictly adheres to its Baroque predecessors in formal terms. A recurring 6-bar tonal bassline serves as the foundation for variations, creating a solid thread throughout. Even virtuosic alternative playing techniques on the bass clarinet do not disrupt this centuries-old structure. These sonic escapades of the bass clarinet are underscored by a guitar amp combined with a “wah-wah” effect (simulated here through software).
