Listen to me if you can - New podcast

Unknown to the general public, Belgian creative music is often described as ‘niche music’, unaffordable and sometimes downright boring!
What if we were to sneak up on those who write this music? And what if we donned the costume of composer together?
Through the magic of an intimate podcast, Max Charue succeeds in creating an uninhibited conversation with his guests, popularising a profession and know-how that are a priori inaccessible, demystifying the act of composing by revealing all its secrets!

Read what Benoît Mernier (composer and organist) has to say about writing his next opera, ‘Bartleby’. Writing an opera is like climbing Everest together!

Episode 2 ‘Does creative music have a place in our schools?
Many questions arise in relation to composers' pedagogy. Apolline Jesupret, Virginie Tasset (teachers and composers) and Noé Gillerot (recent Conservatoire graduate) will attempt to answer them.

Episode 3 ‘Electroacoustic music
In this episode, Max Charue was greeted, as if by magic, by a bell. This bell revealed the invisible world of waves, made up of inharmonics, partials and other scientific oddities specific to sound. Because yes! This is what Max is talking about alongside Todor Todoroff and Charo Calvo.

Episode 4 ‘A good mix is mixed?
It seems to be everywhere these days! On the radio, in pop music, in many different styles of music. So what does mixed music actually mean? It was in the Forêt de Soignes that Gilles Gobert (laptop operator and composer), Pierre Slinckx (guitarist, laptop operator and composer) and Max Charue talked about it.

Episode 5 ‘Multiples casquettes!
One is a cellist, the other a pianist. And what they have in common, as well as being performers, is composing! So how do they reconcile their lives as performers and composers? Does one go hand in hand with the other? Does one influence the other? Fabian Coomans (pianist and composer) and Gwen Sainte-Rose (cellist and composer) talk to us about this dual role.

Episode 6 ‘Consonance
So many questions are asked about consonance, that pleasing uniformity to the ear. But where does it actually come from? That's what Max Charue and his 2 guests Jean-Paul Dessy (composer, cellist and conductor) and Line Adam (composer and flautist) will be trying to answer in this 6th part of ‘Ecoute moi si tu peux!’.

Episode 7 ‘Let's eat! Let's talk film music!
